چکیده
Background Fat embolism syndrome (FES) is a rare resulting from fat embolism, which defined by the presence of globules in pulmonary microcirculation; it associated with wide range symptoms. Research Question What are specific unknown risk factors for FES after we have controlled basic characteristics and patient’s severity? Study Design Methods This was nested case-control study that used Japan Trauma Data Bank database 2004 2017. We included patients identified without as control subjects using propensity score matching. The primary outcome during hospital stay. Results There were 209 (0.1%) trauma; they compared 2,090 matched 168,835 candidates this study. Patients had long bone open fractures their extremities more frequently than those FES. Regarding treatments, received reduction fixation Among who fixation, time to operation not different between groups (P = .63). overall in-hospital mortality rate 5.8% 3.4% .11). Conditional logistic regression models identify shows injury Primary independently (OR, 1.80; 95% CI, 0.92-3.54), but delay 2.21; 1.16-4.23). Interpretation Long injuries Although FES,

Fat Embolism Syndrome following minor trauma in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
We describe five patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy who presented with acute neurologic and respiratory symptoms following minor trauma. Four of the five deteriorated rapidly and died within 36 h after falling. X-rays for fractures were negative. Four of the five patients were taking corticosteroids daily. All five patients fulfilled the clinical criteria for Fat Embolism Syndrome. Autop...
متن کاملTrauma related fat embolism syndrome in forensic practice.
The fat embolism syndrome (FES) in forensic practice is observed usually in cases of polytrauma related deaths. FES is rare, but serious complication after trauma. The most cases of post traumatic fat embolism are not fatal and it's very likely that many cases of mild fat embolism are overlooked. We describe a case of fat embolism syndrome in a young man after high energy injury. Upon concrete ...

The initial symptoms are probably caused by mechanical occlusion of multiple blood vessels with fat globules that are too large to pass through the capillaries. The vascular occlusion in fat embolism is often temporary or incomplete, as fat globules do not obstruct capillary blood flow completely because of their fluidity and deformability. The late presentation is thought to be a result of hyd...

The classical syndrome of fat embolism is characterized by the triad of respiratory failure, neurologic dysfunction and the presence of a petechial rash. Fat embolism syndrome (FES) occurs most commonly following orthopedic trauma, particularly fractures of the pelvis or long bones, however non-traumatic fat embolism has also been known to occur on rare occasions. Because no defi nitive consens...
